Proof Your Presents, People

I gave my adorable little niece Katie lots of books for Christmas, since it seems that she is shaping up to be as big a bookworm as her aunt (hooray).
Anywho, I picked up books that I thought looked cute, but I didn’t read them all the way through. And while I’m not sure that this particular line would have discouraged me from buying the book, it was dang funny when my sister pointed it out.
Baby Rattlesnake is desperate for a rattle. But when he finally gets one,
he misuses it by scaring small animals…
“He made old Jack Rabbit jump.
He made old Man Turtle jump.
He made Prairie Dog take a dump.”
Which is hilarious in and of itself, but utterly HYSTERICAL when accompanied by this photo:
This is the children’s literature of today, people.

I think it’s just called “Baby Rattlesnake.” I’ll check with my sister on the author, and I think I picked it up at Target. Figures it would turn in to one of Katie’s favorite books.
