Cincinnati Zoo

July 25th, 2007 by admin

To celebrate Chip’s birthday, with the added bonus of getting Kory to Louisville for the weekend and spending some time with Katie (and, of course, Amy and Charlie), we traveled down to the Cincinnati Zoo for the afternoon. We got there late enough that they didn’t charge us, so that was a bonus.

Not to be outshone by little J-Man Fantoni, Kory did some pretty cool photography of his own.

We call this one “Rhino on the Move”

He took some other with Amy’s camera, but I haven’t seen those yet.

Also, I was nearly eaten by an alligator!

The day also resulted in my current favorite photo of Katie, taken, of course, by yours truly:

And a new favorite of Chip, just because he looks happy and the lighting is kind of neat:

We took the really, really, really long way home, because there was traffic and construction and, let’s face it, we didn’t have anything better to do. In our travels we stopped by to see Grant, Jill, and little Sophia Lammi, but alas, they weren’t home. Hi anyway, guys! I like your house!

The remainder of the weekend was spent doing miscellaneous things around the house, including installing the ginormous television that Chip bought himself. It was a much needed minimal-travel weekend, especially with all the traveling it seems will be doing in the coming weeks. I’m just counting down to October … Vegas, baby!

I have never been to the Cincinnati Zoo but I’ve heard it’s pretty cool!

I think Kory’s pictures just may give Jonathan’s a run for the money. Perhaps we could do a joint showing??

I really like the picture of Chip, too. The lighting is cool and he just looks like he’s having a great day!

Ha! A picture taken in front of my house when we weren’t there. That’s just funny.

It turns out we had just taken the kid to the park and missed all of your calls. I laughed out loud at the voice mail messages though. The Reader’s Digest versions:

Chip call #1: “We’re going to stop by, we’ll be there soon.”

Chip call #2: “We stopped by, you weren’t there.”
